First monument to F.Shalyapin in the world was set up in Kazan to his 125-year anniversary.
Fedor Shalyapin – great Russian singer of the late XIX- early XX century was born in Kazan in 1873 in the merchant Lisitsyn’s house in Rybnoryadskaya street (today-Pushkin street). He lived in Kazan 17 years.
By the initiative of the workers of the A.Gorky museum there was founded the F.Shalyapin club, the main idea of which became the arts propaganda. Thanks to their enthusiasm in 1998 near the Epithany cathedral, where the singer was baptized, there was laid the foundation of the monument to the great singer. And a year later there was founded the monument to Fedor Shalyapin.
Moscow sculptor A.Balashov created the best monument to the singer, successfully fitting it in the surrounding place.
Irina Shalyapina – Shalyapin’s granddaughter mentioned that sculptor managed to get the most similarity with her grandfather. She was very happy that the first monument to the great singer was set up in his native land, in the best city of the world as F.Shalyapin called Kazan.
