Annually Kazan hosts sports competitions of Russian, European and international level.
ICE HOCKEY: World U18 Championship on ice hockey.
IIHF World U18 Championship was carried out in Kazan in 2008. According to the opinion of the International Ice-hockey Federation delegation’, Kazan is the best place for hosting World Championship on ice hockey.
FIELD HOCKEY: European Men’s Field Hockey Championship "Challenge 1" was held in Kazan in 2007. The matches were held in the newly constructed Field Hockey Center, which doesn’t have any analogues in Russia.
FIELD HOCKEY: Pre-Olympic women field hockey qualifying tournament was held in Kazan in 2008.
TRACK AND FIELD: International Grand-Prix Series “Brothers Znamensky Memorial”.
International Grand-Prix Series “Brothers Znamensky Memorial” was successfully held in Kazan in 2005. It was held at the Central Stadium - one of the few stadiums in Russia, which has IAAF certificate for hosting international track and fields competitions.
RALLY – CROSS-COUNTRY RACE: President of the Republic of Tatarstan Cup.
Rally Cross competitions are annually held at “Visokaya Gora” autodrome. In the nearest future the organizers want to give this competition the status of the International Motor Sport Federation candidate races and in 2009 to make the Rally Cross the European Championship lap.
BASKETBALL: FIBA-Europe League Final Four
Final Four of FIBA – Europe League, in which Kazan “UNICS” basketball team became a winner, was held in Kazan in 2004. The competition was held at “Basket-hall”, which is perfectly equipped for hosting such kind of tournaments. The tournament organization gained high appreciation from FIBA and RBF.
VOLLEYBALL: European League Final
European League Final competitions were held at “Basket-Hall” in 2005.
WRESTLING: International competitions
IV Wrestling World Championship was held in “Basket-hall” in 2005. The competition was held according to the international federation standards on different weight class and styles.
WATER POLO: Len Trophy Cup
In 2007 Kazan hosted water polo Len Trophy Cup. The matches were held in “Orgsintez” swimming-pool.
FOOTBALL: UEFA Cup
UEFA Cup matches were held at Central Stadium in 2006.
BOXING: Kostya Tzyu Cup
In 2006 Kazan Sports Palace became a host of Kostya Tsyu Cup International competitions. The most titled Russian professional sportsman organizes boxing competitions annually for the popularization of this kind of sport.
TABLE TENNIS: Best European Sportsmen Super Cup
In 2007 Kazan Sports Palace hosted best European table tennis players Super Cup competitions. Eight titled European table tennis players participated in the tournament.
