TV channel Kultura to show films about Kazan and Sviyazhsk

Films about Kazan and Sviyazhsk are to be shown on the channel Kultura in October in the programme “The Property of the Republic”, said today a poet, a writer, the editor of the journal “Novaya yunost” (“New Youth”), an anchor of the programme “The Property of the Republic” Gleb Shulpyakov in the meeting with the Kazan citizens.

At present a film crew of the channel Kultura is in Tatarstan where they work on the material for the programme “The Property of the Republic”. According to Gleb Shulpyakov the film crew has come to the republic on September 1. The shoot is likely to continue till September 8.

The new set of programmes is dedicated to the problem of disappearance of old towns and streets and construction of ‘remakes’ on their places. Gleb Shulpyakov thinks that Kazan faced this problem as well.

The writer, living in Moscow, complained that active construction in the capital of Russia had lead to the destruction of the city image. “When the city is destroyed in front of your very eyes, a part of yourself disappears,” said Gleb Shulpyakov. “As if holes appear inside a person. Now I do not have a city that I could call ‘mine”.

According to the guest of Kazan only illusive imaginary city composed of several ones could become ‘his’. Answering the question of what characteristics of Kazan he would take to the image of ‘his’ city Gleb Shulpyakov said: “A lot of water is an undoubted advantage of the city. Water is an only surface which rests the eyes”.
